Bristol & Clifton Golf Club is a beautiful, undulating, country golf course of distinctive character, established in 1891. It is situated just 4 miles from Bristol and only a short drive from Brunel's famous Clifton Suspension Bridge .

12 miles North East of Bristol (South West England), the course at Chipping Sodbury Golf Club is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty at the foot of the Cotswold hills and adjacent to the historic, characterful 17th century market town of Chipping Sodbury.

 

 

Filton Golf Club

Founded: 1909

Filton Golf Club was founded in 1909 when a 9-hole course was laid out on land rented from the City council and the Lord of the Manor, J. Atkin Waller of Pen Park . The golf club became so popular that it was extended to 18 holes in 1912 and a Clubhouse built. The Clubs first professional, E. Crook, was engaged in 1911. It was not however until 1979 that the Club was able to purchase the land on which the course sits. The par 70 course measures 6,270 yards off the white tees (6,159 yards off the yellow tees and 5,720 yards off the red tees - par 73). The course is regarded by many as being one of the more difficult courses in Bristol and represents a challenge to golfers of all standards.

 

 

Henbury Golf Club

Founded: 1891

The first General Meeting of Henbury Golf Club was held in the Henbury Vicarage on December 10th, 1891. Membership was to be restricted to persons resident in Henbury with an additional maximum of thirty from outside the parish. The subscription was fixed at 10s 6d per annum. In 1996 the members decided to make another great investment and nearly £500K was spent on a new look for the course and a total refurbishment of the Clubhouse interior taking Henbury into the new millennium. The Club has retained its sylvan charm despite being within easy reach of J17 of the M5 and close to the villages of Westbury on-Trym, Stoke Bishop and Henbury.

 

 

The Kendleshire Golf Club

Founded: 1996

The Kendleshire Golf Club now boasts 27 holes of exciting and challenging golf. The original layout was opened in May 1997 with the third nine coming into play in July 2002. Water comes in to play on 18 of the holes with the 9th, 11th, 16th, 18th and 27th being the most infamous. The 16th and 18th have become notorious for destroying good scores however the island green 11th has become the hole that most visitors have heard about and can't wait to play. A carbon copy of the 17th at Sawgrass in most ways, even the better players are pleased to leave the green with a three on the card.

 

 

Knowle Golf Club

Knowle Golf Club is a traditional members club which enjoys a reputation for its fine greens and friendly welcoming atmosphere in the club house. A good test of golf, Knowle is a mature parkland course with two contrasting halves and the benefit of two starting points. The club has played host to many county and professional events over the last 100+ years.

 

 

Long Ashton Golf Club

The Players Golf Club

The Players Club is an 18-hole championship course situated just one mile from junction 18 of the M4. Open in May 2002, one of the striking features is its maturity with woodland, lakes, trees and gorse coming into play. At over 7,600 yards, it's the longest course in the United Kingdom but from the front markers dips below 6,000 yards. Six sets of tees will ensure that whatever your handicap, you will enjoy your round. The second 18 hole golf course opens in the summer of 2009.

 

 

Shirehampton Park Golf Club

Some 5 miles along the Portway from the centre of Bristol and several hundred feet above the river, it would be difficult to find a more stunning setting. Shirehampton Park Golf Club has magnificent views across the River Avon, the Gordano Valley and the distant spires of Clifton . The timbered park is a delight to the eye at all seasons of the year. The parkland links are on the immediate outskirts of the village of Shirehampton and a good test of golf for players of all standards. Not a long course, but the undulating nature of the ground amply makes up for the lack of length. The fairways are tight and some of the greens small with narrow or raised entry.

 

 

Shortwood Lodge Golf Club

Shortwood Lodge Golf Club is known as Bristol 's friendly Golf club. The undulating parkland golf course has superb views coupled with a warm clubhouse atmosphere which is a hard combination to beat. We extend a warm welcome to visitors, both beginners and expert golfers with no advance booking necessary. The course has changed considerably since the year 1995, the greens are among the best to be found locally in a golf course which encourages visitors and the 6,000 trees planted in 1992 have extended their coverage and given the course excellent delineation.

Tickenham Golf Club

Tickenham Golf Club was founded in 1994. In such a short space of time, it has matured nicely and developed into a top quality course that will test the abilities of players of all ages and handicaps. Andrew Sutcliffe, who designed it, is also the club pro and offers very popular lessons for those that feel aspects of their game could do with a little fine tuning. There are loads of excellent hazards for you to take on and test yourself against on this course, including tight, tree-lined fairways and well protected greens so accuracy is at an absolute premium, as is good course management and club selection.

 

 

Woodlands Golf & Country Club

Woodlands Golf and Country Club is situated on the edge of the Severn Valley boarded by Hortham Brook and Shepherds Wood just a stones throw from Bradley Stoke. It is ideally located for easy access from Bristol the M4 and M5. The Woodlands golf course has made the game of golf accessible and enjoyable to everybody. The variety of the golf holes offers a challenge to players of all levels with water playing a major part of many of them. Woodlands will become a 36-hole golf course in June 2008.
